i think of my studio space sort of like a laboratory where i can try out new ideas, try things that are beyond my skill set and generally make a mess. on this page, i’ll share some of the messes i make that i find are more interesting than others or pieces i make just for the sake of making something.

- i made this print right on a leaf using the sun and the chlorophyll in the leaf. it faded after a few days of course.

- i made these prints using the sun and emulsions made from local plants and vegetables. i’m having some trouble keeping them from fading, but if i ever figure out how to keep them permanent i think it’d be fun to do some more of this work.

- a test panel for some encaustic experiments. i used transfers mixed with straight collage and adhesion with this piece. i didn’t use the beeswax/resin medium very well and it got too clumpy for my liking, but the point of making it was to experinment and learn how to use the stuff.

- a laserjet image transfer onto a piece of found wood. i liked the texture of the wood so much i didn’t add any new paint or anything. i didn’t end up using this piece for anything because a really nice couple bought this one day when they visited my studio. i think it lives somewhere in hong kong now.
